Blackpool South’s MP Scott Benton swapped the Green benches of Parliament for the comfy seats of the town’s bars last Friday (11/06/2021).
During his ‘pub tour surgery’ the Member of Parliament visited the Lifeboat, the Ardwick and the Albert, where he discussed local issues with staff and members of the public in an informal setting.
Scott Benton MP said: “Because of the Pandemic, I have not been able to hold regular face-to-face meetings and ‘surgeries’ for quite some time. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been able to assist my constituents – far from it. Since the pandemic began, my team and I have always been available to constituents, many of whom have contacted me by telephone, letter and e-mail.”
But now that more and more people have received their second vaccination and restrictions are beginning to lift, I wanted to hear from Blackpool residents in person again."
In his mission to engage with as many residents as possible, Mr Benton has been using traditional methods such as letters and newsletters, and newer tools such as a regular online Question and Answers sessions.
